Collapse ▲Dr. Jonathan Schultheis, NC State Vegetable Extension Specialist, accompanied by his support team and Annette L. Wszelaki, UT Vegetable Extension Specialist joined forces with the Waynesville Research Station support staff to harvest the 2017 Pumpkin and gourd variety trials.
- The Waynesville Research Station Staff helped the team from NC State harvest the study in one day.
- A group of 15 university and seed company representatives gathered to harvest and evaluate the variety trials.
- Extension Specialists evaluated each plot for visual quality and disease symptoms.
- Small orange pumpkins with a long handle are a favorite for children of all ages.
- Big white pumpkins were just some of the over 70 varieties that were evaluated.
- A variety of gourds and small pumpkins were part of the study.
