2021 Orange Flesh and Specialty Melon Cultigen Evaluations, CCRS, Clayton, NC

NC State Extension Horticultural Science Vegetable Specialist, Jonathan Schultheis, Research Operations Manager at Central Crops Research Station, Keith Starke, and Research Technician Stuart Michel conduct annual cultigen evaluations on orange flesh melons and other cucurbits. An objective of our cucurbit evaluations is to identify adapted cultivars that NC growers can grow profitably.

The 2021 Orange Flesh and Specialty Melon Cultigen Evaluations study was conducted at the Central Crops Research Station in Clayton, NC. Entries were evaluated for yield and quality. Visit the Cucurbit Cultivar Evaluations & Variety Trials page to view field studies on melons, pumpkins, and squash from previous years.
